Abstract: "InforMance (Information + Performance)" is a new way of informing information. In general, to test how users would respond to a new product or service, the traditional usability testing methods (e.g., questionnaires or experience sampling methods) are not effective to reveal how they feel about it. In particular, when users would face a new product or service, their mental models are not mature to cognitively process how they can use the product or service. This research is to newly introduce the ‘Information + Performance’ design workshop for developing effective smart TV features that none knows how they would be used. This technique identifies what features should be included in the new product development.

This study is to apply the "InforMance" technique for determining what functional features in the new product development would be desirable for user's mental models.
